The book-themed adventure continued at the 2019 Chicago Flower & Garden Show titled, “FlowerTales: The Story Grows On.” Stunning gardens and creative floral displays turned Navy Pier into a springtime haven for Chicagoland. Bernie’s Book Bank had the honor of being the charitable partner of this show for the second consecutive year.
On Tuesday, March 19 the festivities kicked off with the Evening in Bloom charity event hosted by Wintrust. More than 650 guests attended in support of Bernie’s Book Bank, and the other beneficiaries. The evening showcased an exclusive preview of the gardens, delicious culinary creations and a vibrant floral fashion show titled Hort Culture.
The following morning, “FlowerTales: The Story Grows On” officially opened to the public. The Bernie’s Book Bank table was located in the kid’s activity garden. Each day at 2 p.m. children and families visiting the show joined us on colorful wooden stumps in the garden for storytime. Our presence at the Chicago Flower & Garden Show was a great opportunity to connect with the community and share our mission to increase book ownership among at-risk children throughout Chicagoland.
Many thanks to Chicago Flower & Garden Show President & Show Director Tony Abruscato for this generous partnership!
