A Day of Giving
December 3rd is Giving Tuesday, the Global Day of Giving. We invite all Bernie’s Book Bank friends and family to help us further our mission of increasing children’s book ownership. Together, we can create a future where every child has equal access to books and the opportunities they inspire. Your gift, no matter the size, will have an impact. Will you help?
Each Book Makes an Impact
Your contributions are powerful. Kim’s story is just one of many, that showcase the impact of your commitment. Your support makes a difference in the number of children we can reach each year. Transform the story for a local child through book ownership this Giving Tuesday.
When I was 10 years old, I moved to a new school in North Chicago called AJ Katzenmaier Academy. Our school received books from an organization called Bernie’s Book Bank. All I really knew at the time was that these books were free for us to grab if we were interested. I waited my turn in line to receive my very own bag filled with books. When we got back to our classroom, students were trading with each other and even donating books to the classroom library.
I had never owned a book before this moment.
It was like tasting a new flavor of ice cream for the first time, my new
favorite flavor. It was both unfamiliar and stunning to know people cared enough to get these books into our hands.
