The Bernie’s Book Bank 10th Anniversary Celebration kicked off with a 10-hour Volunteer-A-Thon on Saturday, July 13th. Longtime volunteers gathered with new volunteers to help sort, sticker and pack books for the 360,000 at-risk Chicagoland children we serve.
During lunchtime guests enjoyed a well-deserved break from volunteering. Burgers and hot dogs were served fresh from the grill and ice cream from Depidy Dawg was the perfect cool treat to enjoy after lunch. Children enjoyed a variety of activities on the lawn including book mark crafting, temporary tattoos and much more. Special thanks to the Lake Bluff Fire Department for joining the event and opening their fire truck for tours. Also, thanks to Catering by Michaels for providing a delicious array of food for the evening celebration.
