Meet Riley!
Riley is passionate about reading, enjoys sharing her love for books on instagram, and actively supports Bernie’s Book Bank. Her love for reading developed at a young age, and over the years, books have become much more than stories for her. Recently, she came across Bernie’s Book Bank and enthusiastically helped raise donations to support our mission. Explore her story below!
“Reading has always been an important influence in my life. As I’ve gotten older, reading has become a way for me to escape, relax, and practice self-care. Sometimes after a long day, it feels good to lock myself in my room with a warm drink and a soft blanket and dive into a different reality.
While I do read fiction books, I’ve recently found a love for nonfiction reading. I find that each book gives me a chance to learn from the lived experiences and diverse identities of others. As a current social work student, that’s something that speaks to my life motto and the goal of my profession.
The reason I resonate so strongly with Bernie’s Book Bank’s mission is because of how much reading and being surrounded by books have influenced my life. In my family, books were always around and my mom always encouraged me to read in my free time. So, I couldn’t imagine being the person I am today without access to those books. I am proud to support Bernie’s Book Bank’s mission and hope local children can discover the same love for reading I had growing up.”
