Greater Milwaukee’s Book Lovers’ Lunch: Evening Edition with Kathryn Stockett

Greater Milwaukee's Book Lovers' Lunch Evening Edition

Last week, Bernie’s Book Bank Greater Milwaukee hosted its second annual Book Lovers’ Lunch as a special Evening Edition at Prairie Springs on Park on Wednesday, May 20.

Guests gathered for a cocktail hour before the dinner and program, where they received a signed copy of Kathryn Stockett’s newest book, The Calamity Club.

The Milwaukee team would like to extend its gratitude to everyone who completed a pledge card and made a contribution to the organization’s programming. Thanks to the generosity of the audience, the event surpassed its initial fundraising announcement on Wednesday evening, raising nearly $15,000, including the generous $3,600 match from Herb Kohl Philanthropies. This total is enough to support students at four different schools.

The team was also honored to have Rachel Wagoner in attendance, who shared insights about her school’s partnership with Bernie’s Book Bank, and to Natalie Shepherd of CBS58, for serving as emcee and for her continued support as a dedicated ambassador for the organization.
Bernie’s Book Bank would like to share its heartfelt thanks once again to all our generous sponsors and our co-host, Boswell Book Co., for their support of this event.

We’re excited for what’s ahead this year and we can’t wait to keep the momentum going! Please make sure to save the date for the ribbon cutting of our new facility this summer, on Wednesday, July 22. We look forward to opening our doors to the community!
