An Afternoon of Stories, Community, and Impact at Book Lovers’ Lunch

More than 275 book lovers gathered for an inspiring afternoon with acclaimed author Christina Clancy in support of Bernie’s Book Bank’s mission to increase book ownership among children. Guests enjoyed lunch, a thoughtful conversation with Christina, and a behind-the-scenes look at her writing journey, creative process, and lifelong passion for reading.

The afternoon also featured a powerful story from Manuela, a high school sophomore who grew up receiving books through Bernie’s Book Bank. She shared how having books of her own helped foster her love of reading and writing, inspiring her dream of becoming an author. Her story was a meaningful reminder of the lasting impact book ownership can have on a child’s life.

Book Lovers’ Lunch celebrated more than a shared love of reading—it highlighted the transformative power of books and the importance of ensuring every child has access to them. Together, guests helped advance a future where all children can build personal libraries, discover the joy of reading, and create brighter outcomes for themselves and their communities.
