Bernie’s Book Bank is heading downtown August 26-30 for a unique volunteer opportunity at Macy’s on State Street in Chicago. Gather friends, family, and coworkers for this convenient opportunity to give back to Chicagoland children without the hassle of leaving the city.
There are 3 volunteer sessions scheduled daily to accommodate your busy schedule. Session 1 runs from 10:30 am – 12:30 pm, session 2 is from 2:00 – 3:30 pm, and session 3 rounds off the day from 4:30 – 6:00 p.m. Each session is filled with sorting, stickering and packing books for local at-risk children.
Director of Volunteer Services, Casey Barbknecht, hopes this event will reach our city-based supporters who have wanted to get involved, but found our Lake Bluff location to be a little too far. Barbknecht describes the sessions as a “recreation of the volunteer experience we all know, and love transplanted in a new spot.”
