This summer was one for the books! Bernie’s Book Bank broke the WORLD RECORD for the largest book pyramid using 144,000 books.
Later this month, golfers will tee off for Birdie’s & Books in support of our mission to increase book ownership among at-risk children throughout Chicagoland.
As students head back to school, we need your support to serve 300,000 at-risk Chicagoland children. Join us for a volunteer session to help sort, sticker and pack books. You can also clean off your book shelves and donate new and gently used children’s books at your nearest book drop location.

BREAKING HISTORY
It’s in the (Guinness World Record) books! On Friday, July 27th Bernie’s Book Bank and International Keynote Speaker, Ryan Avery, broke the Guinness World Record for the largest book pyramid. The pyramid measured 10.6 feet tall and weighed 72,000 pounds. A total of 144,000 books were used to create the colorful structure. The number 144,000 represents the 144 quality children’s books Bernie’s Book bank provides to every child it serves.
Thank you to the more than 100 volunteers who helped build the record-breaking pyramid. Many thanks to the book pyramid sponsors below, including Presenting Sponsor ABDO, for donating over 100,000 of the books needed to build the pyramid. All of the books used for the pyramid will be distributed to the 300,000 at-risk Chicagoland children Bernie’s Book Bank serves. The 2018 Birdies & Books Charity Golf Classic is less than one month away. Join us on Monday, August 27th at Onwentsia Club in Lake Forest, IL for 18 holes of competitive play (play your own ball) on this historic course.

It’s almost back to school time and Bernie’s Book Bank is gearing up for fall book distributions. In order to serve 300,000 at-risk Chicagoland children, annually, we need volunteers to sort, sticker and pack books. Sign up today to join us for one of our 18 weekly volunteer sessions.
