LAPS FOR LITERACY

Supporting Bernie’s Book Bank with every lap

Laps for Literacy is a fundraising initiative started by the CTX SPEED race team in 2015. Motorsports racers, spectators, fans, corporations and individuals have the opportunity to pledge $1 (or more) per lap to directly support the mission of Bernie’s Book Bank.

In addition to the pledge program, CTX SPEED drivers proudly display the Laps for Literacy logo on their cars to raise awareness for Bernie’s Book Bank.

Since 2015, Laps for Literacy has raised over $10,000 to increase book-ownership among under-served children throughout Chicagoland!

You can support the Bernie’s Book Bank through the Laps for Literacy program by making a pledge.

I support Bernie’s Book Bank because I believe that developing one’s literacy skills is a key component to success in life. I feel that if young children develop their ability to read, they will be able to excel in developing their writing, speaking, and listening skills as they mature. In a world that is becoming more reliant on clear and precise communication, it is important to provide the opportunity to develop literacy skills which produces confident children. Also, literacy fosters imagination and creativity. Books can open up a new world and inspire new thoughts, ideas, and discussions.

You don't have to work in education to know that there are many factors in learning to be a successful reader, but none is as important as having actual access to personal books. Bernie's Book Bank comes walking right into the classrooms on a regular basis and makes the impossible possible for these children.
