PROCESSING CENTER SPECIALIST

As soon as Cori learned about Bernie’s Book Bank, she knew she wanted to be part of the team. Her lifelong love of reading started in 1st grade when her teacher introduced her to the Clifford books. Prior to joining the team at Bernie’s Book Bank, she spread her love of reading working in school libraries in Zion, IL and Indianapolis, IN. Time spent working at Half Price Books and her local used bookstore in Elgin gave Cori the opportunity to keep an eye on what books other people are reading.

Originally from Elgin, IL, Cori has a bachelor’s degree in Peace Studies from Manchester University in N. Manchester, IN. After college she spent two years in the Brethren Volunteer Service, splitting her time between a long term homeless shelter in the Back of the Yards neighborhood of Chicago and Greenhill YMCA in Newcastle, Northern Ireland.

In her free time, Cori voraciously consumes stories in whatever form possible. She also enjoys knitting, directs a Jr. High summer camp, and chases her cats around the house. Her favorite books are “The Sparrow” by Mary Doria Russel and “His Dark Materials” by Philip Pullman.
