The 2018 Chicago Flower & Garden Show titled “FlowerTales: Every Garden Has A Story To Tell” brought the adventure of books to life with an array of creative gardens at Navy Pier. The theme of this year’s show coincided perfectly with us as the proud charitable partner.

Rosborough Partners, Inc. designed a breathtaking garden dedicated to Bernie’s Book Bank that included three distinct stories. The first was Wonderland. This garden featured a brick path, color changing lights and children’s books blooming alongside the flowers.

The next garden area titled the Secret Garden showcased the spirit of Bernie’s Book Bank with the use of a bright green complemented by natural wood. There was even a special book bench complete with a library that allowed guests to sit and enjoy the sights.

Finally, the Enchanted Forest was a woodland fairytale scene. Magical book displays emerged within the wooded path that blurred the lines between reality and fantasy.

Tuesday evening before the show opened to the public, 600 guests came out to enjoy the Evening In Bloom benefit presented by Wintrust. This event offered an early look at the gardens, delicious culinary presentations and a vibrant floral fashion show titled Hort Culture, all to benefit our mission.

The show ran from Wednesday through Sunday drawing thousands of guests from the Chicagoland area and beyond. The Bernie’s Book Bank team worked onsite throughout the show to connect with guests and share our mission to increase book ownership among at-risk children throughout Chicagoland. Additionally, our team hosted special volunteer sessions for over 150 people at the show on Wednesday and Thursday.

It was a wonderful week of FlowerTales at Navy Pier! We are incredibly thankful to the Chicago Flower & Garden Show for selecting us as the 2018 charitable partner and Rosborough Partners for dedicating their garden to us. Special thanks to Tony Abruscato and Phil Rosborough for making this possible!
