Double Your Impact, Thanks to an Inaugural Matching Gift Made in Honor of Herbert V. Kohler, Jr.

We are pleased and encouraged by the momentum continuing to build for our expansion efforts in Greater Milwaukee and are so grateful to all who have gotten engaged.

The cornerstone of this momentum rests in a generous investment made by the late Natalie A. Black in honor of her husband, Herbert V. Kohler Jr. to springboard our efforts in Greater Milwaukee. We see this as a meaningful endorsement and we are grateful for the generous trust and support of the Kohler family – it means a lot and serves as additional motivation, to say the least.

This initial gift of $500,000 will be used to source books for the 20,000 children currently being served by Bernie’s Book Bank in qualifying Milwaukee Public Schools. As part of this commitment, the investment includes a matching gift component of an additional $500,000 once Bernie’s Book Bank raises $1 million in new funding for its Greater Milwaukee efforts.

To date, $450,000 has already been raised, leaving $550,000 to secure the additional $500,000 from the Natalie A. Black commitment. These investments and your investments will go a long way in helping us reach our Greater Milwaukee goals – having the processing facility and volunteer center operational by the end of 2025 and serving all 96,000 qualifying children annually by the end of 2026.

If you are interested in participating with a financial gift towards this meaningful opportunity to support our efforts in Greater Milwaukee, please contact Greater Milwaukee Executive Director Jenna Renno for giving opportunities. Read more about the opportunity in the BizTimes feature.
