Book Lovers’ Lunch 2017
Thank you very much to everyone who attended the 6th Annual Book Lovers’ Lunch at Bernie’s Book Bank on May 12, 2017. With 425+ guests, it was our largest Book Lovers’ Lunch to date!
As the leading provider of quality books to at-risk children throughout Chicagoland, Bernie’s Book Bank was delighted to host Melanie Benjamin, a bestselling author for whom books had a profound impact at an early age. She is an inspiration and motivation to continue the mission of Bernie’s Book Bank so that every child can have books of their own.
Benjamin, author of bestsellers The Swans of Fifth Avenue and The Aviator’s Wife, entertained us all as she shared her story and the role books played in her childhood. “It all began with a book…I would read books and imagine myself as the characters on the page.”
We hope the children Bernie’s Book Bank serves also imagine themselves as characters in the quality books they receive and draw inspiration to read their way to a better life.
Bernie’s Book Bank is extremely grateful to our lead sponsors, Coyote & Allstate, and to all of our generous sponsors for supporting an incredible event. Special thanks to Catering by Michaels, Long Grove Confectionery, Palmer Printing and Terlato Wine Group.
